Opus Partners, Inc. has announced that it will integrate the executive-search business of CBO Partners Recruiting, Inc., a Charlottesville, VA-based human-capital management firm, into its national higher-education and healthcare practice. Jay Scott, CBO’s founder and President, will become an Associate Partner at Opus in the Charlottesville office.

CBO Partners, founded in Charlottesville in 2007, conducts senior-level executive searches in academic medicine and healthcare. Jay Scott has over 25 years of experience working with higher education and academic medical centers. Until 2007, he held positions of increasing responsibility in the University of Virginia, culminating in his service as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at the School of Medicine.

Founded by Jim Hess and Craig Smith Philadelphia in 2003 and focused ever since on higher education and academic medicine, Opus Partners is an independent executive search firm led by consultants who have worked together since 1999. Opus clients – universities, colleges, academic medical centers, foundations, museums, and research institutes – advance missions in education, research, patient care, and philanthropy.

CBO and Opus share a commitment to applying the expertise of search consultants to a concentrated set of clients in core industry sectors in order to provide a consultative, transparent, and rigorous recruitment process. Notes Opus co-founder Smith, “the integration of CBO Partners’ search practice deepens and complements the expertise and experience we have here at Opus and significantly strengthens us in academic healthcare. We are enthusiastic in welcoming Jay and his clients to our firm.”
